Sick Notes (Fit Notes) at Binfield Road Surgery
If you need a sick note from your NHS GP in Stockwell, here is how the process works. In most cases, you will not need an appointment — you can request a Fit Note online through AccurX.
A Fit Note is the official name for what used to be called a Sick Note or Med3.
1. Illness of 7 Days or Less (Self-Certification)
If you have been ill for 7 days or less (including weekends), you do not need to see a doctor. You can “Self-Certify” to your employer using an SC2 form.

Note: We cannot issue a Fit Note for periods of less than 7 days.
2. Illness of More Than 7 Days
You will need a medical certificate (Fit Note) from a doctor. You may not need an appointment — please submit a request via AccurX with the exact dates and reason for your absence. Your Fit Note will be sent securely via text or email.

3. Extending an Existing Fit Note
Request a “Continuation Fit Note” via AccurX. Backdating is at the discretion of the reviewing doctor.
4. “Do I Need a Doctor to Sign Me Fit to Return to Work?”
No. You do not need a doctor to sign you as “fit” to return to work. You can go back as soon as you feel able. GPs are not required to provide “fit to return” notes. If your employer insists, you can direct them to NHS guidance on Fit Notes.
