Home Visits at Binfield Road Surgery
Home visits are reserved for patients of our Stockwell GP practice who are completely housebound or too ill to visit the surgery. If you think you may need a home visit, please telephone reception before 10:00am.
Patients receiving end-of-life care at home will be prioritised for visits.
How to Request a Visit
Call reception before 10:00am on 020 7622 1424.
We do accept requests after 10am, but these may be booked for the following day unless it is a medical emergency.
Why Before 10am?
This allows doctors to plan their rounds and ensures urgent cases are seen first.
The Triage Process
A doctor or nurse will usually phone you back first to assess urgency, decide if a telephone consultation is suitable, or arrange a District Nurse or hospital attendance if more appropriate.
Eligibility
Home visits are strictly for patients who are housebound due to illness or disability. We encourage patients who are able to travel to explore all options, including taxis or lifts from family members, as we can provide much better care at the surgery.
Why is it better to be seen at the surgery?
- Safety and equipment: proper lighting, examination couches, and diagnostic equipment
- Efficiency: a doctor can see 4–6 patients at the surgery in the time it takes to do one home visit
Out-of-Area Patients
If you are registered with us but live outside our catchment area, we are clinically unable to provide home visits. Please contact NHS 111 — they will direct you to a local service or visiting doctor in your area.
